Project Overview
ClearTree recently completed a specialized job for a homeowner in Kingston, WA, focusing on removing a large dying maple and pruning another maple to improve safety and resilience. This project highlighted our expertise in safe tree removal, targeted pruning, and site cleanup while preserving as much of the natural setting as possible.
Scope of Work
The project involved two main tasks:
- Removing the Dying Maple
- Tree Details: One large, dying maple located on the uphill side of the driveway near overhead powerlines.
- Work Performed: The tree was carefully removed down to a 20-foot stump, ensuring the surrounding structures and utilities were fully protected during the process.
- Service Includes:
- Chipping branches on site
- Leaving wood cut into log-size rounds at the base of the tree for the homeowner’s use
- Raking and clearing small debris to restore the area

- Pruning the Healthy Maple
- Tree Details: One additional maple located near the house.
- Work Performed: We performed a 10–30% tip weight reduction on 10–15 limbs. This type of pruning is critical for maintaining tree health while reducing structural risks.
- Purpose:
- Mitigating the risk of limb failure
- Increasing the tree’s ability to handle snow, wind, and rain loads
- Service Includes:
- Chipping branches for efficient cleanup
- Raking and removing small debris
Purpose & Benefits
- Safety: By removing the dying maple near powerlines and the driveway, we eliminated a serious hazard to both property and residents.
- Tree Health: The pruning provided structural balance, reducing the chance of large limb breakage during storms.
- Aesthetic & Practical Value: Leaving the wood in log-size rounds gave the homeowner usable firewood while keeping cleanup efficient.
Results
The job was completed smoothly and on schedule. The homeowner gained peace of mind knowing the hazardous tree was managed safely, while the pruned maple will now better withstand winter weather. ClearTree’s team ensured the property was left clean, safe, and ready to enjoy.
